Failover
OpenLab CDS provides failover capabilities for working when the OpenLab Server is unavailable. On a CID, you access those capabilities through CDS Desktop on the embedded Windows VM.
CID's role
CID Hub lets an authorized user retrieve the current username and password for the embedded Windows VM, then launch CDS Desktop. After the user signs in and opens OpenLab CDS, the OpenLab CDS failover workflow takes over.
OpenLab CDS determines when failover is available and controls acquisition, limitations, data handling, and recovery. For current information about that behavior, use the OpenLab CDS Failover Guide supplied with your version of OpenLab CDS.
High-level workflow
- In CID Hub, retrieve the current CDS Desktop credentials for the CID.
- Launch the CID's Windows VM desktop and sign in.
- Open OpenLab CDS.
- Follow the OpenLab CDS failover and recovery guidance for your system.
For the CID access steps, see Run OpenLab CDS in Failover.
