Download a CDS image

Download a CDS KVM image from the Software Library when you want to place it on a CID Network Share before CIDs request it. CIDs associated with that OpenLab Server can then retrieve the large image locally instead of downloading a separate copy from CID Hub.

Prerequisites

• You must be signed in to CID Hub.
• You need write access to the CID Network Share configured for the OpenLab Server.
• Make sure the share contains a downloads subfolder.

Download the image and checksum

1. In CID Hub, click Software Library.
2. Open the OpenLab CDS category.
3. In the Actions column for the required version, click the download icon.
4. Download both files:
   • the KVM image with the .qcow2 extension
   • the checksum file with the .sha256 extension
5. Copy both files, without renaming them, into the downloads subfolder on the CID Network Share.

When a CID associated with that server needs the version, it checks the network share before downloading from CID Hub. The CID validates the image against its checksum before using it. This behavior applies whether the CID inherits its server's software template or uses software exceptions.
