Restart, register, or reset a CID

Use CID Hub maintenance actions to clear a stuck state, apply changed OpenLab Server information, or rebuild the CID's Windows VM. Choose the least disruptive action that addresses the problem.

Prerequisites

  • You must have the privilege required for the selected action.
  • The CID must be connected to CID Hub.
  • Allow Changes must be enabled for the CID.
  • End any CDS Desktop, Linux Cockpit, or support session before starting a maintenance action.
  • Stop active acquisition before restarting the CDS Desktop or rebooting the CID.

Choose an action

ActionTargetUse it when
Restart CID AgentCID software agentThe CID is connected but is not applying changes from CID Hub.
Restart CDS DesktopWindows VMOpenLab CDS is unresponsive but the CID host still responds.
Reboot SystemCID hostThe device needs a clean restart. The Windows VM also restarts.
Register CIDOpenLab registrationRegistration with the OpenLab Server needs to be repeated.
Reset OpenLab CDSWindows VMA restart cannot recover the VM, or unsupported local changes must be removed.

These commands require the CID agent to be running and reachable. If the CID remains disconnected and cannot receive a command, power-cycle it at the chassis.

Run the selected action

  1. In CID Hub, click CIDs and select the CID.
  2. Click Administration.
  3. Click the required maintenance action.
  4. Enter a reason for the action.
  5. Review the confirmation message, then confirm the action.
  6. Monitor the CID status and Recent Activity until the action finishes.

If you run Reset OpenLab CDS, CID Hub replaces the Windows VM with a fresh copy of the currently installed OpenLab CDS image. Software selections return to the versions included with that image. Afterward, use Apply updates to reinstall the required drivers, add-ons, and operating-system updates.
