Retrieve CID credentials

Retrieve the current device credentials when you need authorized access to the CDS Desktop or, when directed by Agilent Support, Linux Cockpit. These credentials grant access to the CID itself, not to CID Hub.

Prerequisites

  • CDS Desktop credentials are available to all users. Linux Cockpit credentials require the Administrator role.
  • The CID must be connected to CID Hub.
  • Wait for CID registration and any Windows update to finish. Credentials are not displayed while these operations are in progress.
  • If an OpenLab CDS installation or update is in progress, wait for it to finish before using the displayed CDS Desktop password.

Retrieve the credentials

  1. In CID Hub, click CIDs and select the CID.
  2. Click Administration.
  3. Find the credentials you need:
    • CDS Desktop user signs in to the Windows VM console that hosts OpenLab CDS.
    • Cockpit user signs in to the Linux Cockpit console on the CID host.
  4. Copy the current username and password and use them for the session.

Both passwords rotate automatically every 24 hours. The CDS Desktop password also changes when Reset OpenLab CDS rebuilds the Windows VM, and both passwords change during a factory reset. Retrieve the current value for each session instead of storing it.

caution

Do not use CDS Desktop or Linux Cockpit to install software or change system settings. Manual changes can leave the CID in an unsupported state. Use Linux Cockpit only when directed by Agilent Support.
